“…choose soft fats… This advice, without proper context, is misleading.
Processed rapeseed and other seed oils are unhealthy. They increase intestinal inflammation, which is toxic to brain health.
Cold-pressed, organic rapeseed, camelina, and flaxseed oils are barely acceptable when used sparingly. In Mediterranean countries, where gut and heart health are good, people use olive oil generously.

The brain needs plenty of vitamin D (body level 120–200 nmol/L) and omega-3 fats, which are depleted at about 2 g/day. I recommend adults take 3 g of omega-3 per day as a supplement on days when they do not eat fish. It is absolutely a must to take vitamin B12, 1 mg/day as a lozenge, and B9 (folate) 600 mcg. In older people’s brains, there is still dementia-producing aluminum from the 1950s–1970s, which can be reduced with selenium (200–300 mcg/day), as I personally did back in the 1980s. It is beneficial for the brain to obtain phospholipids, which are available as supplements. I also personally take the well-known Ginkgo biloba herb, as well as PQQ supplements and lithium.

When sleeping, the pillow should not press against the neck, because the neck vessels (especially the veins) become compressed in a side-sleeping position against it. Good sleep is a key factor for brain health, particularly the amount of deep sleep, during which the brain’s glymphatic system flushes out clogging waste products (tau proteins, etc.). Ginger alone and turmeric combined with a small amount of black pepper cleanse microvessels in the brain, as does beetroot juice combined with garlic.

For brain health, it is also important to avoid EDCs (endocrine-disrupting chemicals). Harmful microplastics accumulate in the brain as well, and poor hormonal health affects thyroid health and thereby the brain. Men should adopt a testosterone-active lifestyle, as it has safe brain health benefits, as does carnosine (10 g/day). HIIT workouts are good for the brain, as are strength training, sex, handicrafts, silence, low stress, and limiting screen time. A sure way to destroy the brain is to gain weight, maintain high blood sugar, and allow hearing to deteriorate without using a hearing aid.

Good posture in desk work significantly increases blood flow to the brain, because the neck and shoulder muscles are relaxed, provided the monitor is at eye level. The most sensible way to enhance blood circulation to the brain and the entire body (including the genitals and pelvis) is to sit with loose clothing around the hips and as little clothing as possible on a centrally tilted Salli saddle chair.

Brain health is the sum of many factors. With a conventional lifestyle, every second one of us will have dementia by age 85. By following the above guidelines, no one will. Even if one does not develop dementia, life in old age—being somewhat confused and forgetful—is not pleasant at all.
